Exercise provides many benefits over and above the obvious such as maintaining a healthy BMI and reducing the risk of cardiovascular related illness and disease. It can also be a great way to connect with like minded people, and be part of a community. After a full day in the office, changing into your active wear and doing something physical can recharge your batteries.

We encourage everyone to engage in a regular exercise program of some sort outside of work for at least 30 minutes a day, as evidence suggests this improves your overall health and wellbeing

Approaching exercise at work can be more challenging due to the amount of time required, the impact of increasing heat in the body can mean that some people need to shower afterwards, equipment may be needed or there isn’t enough space for everyone to get involved.

These are just a few of the obstacles to exercising in the workplace.

The question is how do we make movement normal and inclusive in the workplace? How do we support and encourage the almost 50% of adults who are overweight or obese, those already juggling so much in their schedules who find the very thought of a regular structured exercise program overwhelming?

The answer lies in introducing short easy to do movements that can be done anywhere at anytime. For example incidental movement and building short bursts of activity into every day, can produce enormous results in cardiovascular health and subsequently affect our levels of productivity. Staff can create better habits and increase the culture of wellness in your organisation by encouraging simple movements, like taking the stairs, walking/standing meetings, regularly stretching, walking at lunchtime.

Cultivating Change

Small shifts can create massive waves of change. Shifting the focus from exercise to movement automatically promotes a culture of inclusion as everyone can move, even if it’s not a whole body movement, however, not everyone can exercise.

Through introducing our Movement sessions we can assist staff to shift the focus from exercise and replace it with movement. Focusing the effort on introducing simple behaviors that support holistic wellbeing and taking an approach that is inclusive and achievable will deliver a broader impact.

What is included in our movement sessions?

Our movement sessions are specifically designed for the workplace. We introduce your staff to the art of QiGong using a simple technique that will open the joints, relax the muscles,
decrease stress and boost the immune system. We then take them through a series of stretches specifically designed for people who sit at workstations for long period of times.

Why is movement important for organisations?

The two main causes of muscular pain and discomfort are caused by either repetitive movement or a lack of movement (static).

Movement encourages oxygen to flow through the body. It invigorates energy and creates greater mental clarity.

After our movement sessions your staff will feel invigorated and ready to return to work with a new focus and energy.
